Stephen has been a Board Member at Talk Matters since 2016, and has been Chairman for the last five years. 

​

Prior to officially retiring, he worked for Marie Curie (Head of Performance Improvement for Fundraising), Children 1st (Performance Improvement Manager), and The Department for Work and Pensions (Lean Expert and Business Improvement Lead).

 

He continues to develop software solutions for Charities. 

Adeola joined Talk Matters as a Trustee in 2026. She brings experience from the NHS and third-sector organisations, with expertise in finance, governance, and strategic support. Guided by her faith, she is passionate about using her skills to serve others with integrity and compassion.

 

Alongside her professional role, Adeola mentors young people through MCR Pathways, offering guidance, encouragement, and hope. In her personal time, she writes Bible-centred articles for her blog and Facebook, sharing reflections on faith, resilience, and purpose.

 

Adeola is keen to use her expertise to support the ongoing work and growth of Talk Matters. She is deeply committed to supporting Talk Matters’ mission of providing inclusive, compassionate counselling that truly transforms lives. 

Paul joined Talk Matters as a Trustee in 2025. Before retiring, he worked in the Energy Retail and Services industry for nearly 40 years, later serving as a business consultant where he utilised his extensive experience to assist organisations in leveraging technology solutions to support contact centre staff.

Paul is dedicated to developing individuals within a supportive work environment and brings significant expertise in leadership, management, governance, and risk. He is keen to apply his experience to help Talk Matters achieve its key aims and objectives.

Paul enjoys golfing and is an enthusiastic supporter of the local football team. In his leisure time, he also appreciates reading and music. Paul and his wife enjoy walking and exploring new destinations, and have travelled extensively across Europe and North America.

Paul is enthusiastic about joining Talk Matters in his first Trustee role and is committed to helping the charity in any capacity he can.

Lesley’s work life is very varied and she has learned from every job she has had. Lesley was previously a Samaritan, a befriender with Children 1st, and a mentor with MCR Pathways. She works with adults and young people. She spent 17 years in an IT role as a database administrator, trainer, and in helpdesk implementation and management, serving staff in Denmark, Germany, Holland, France, England and Scotland.

Lesley started with Talk Matters as a student counsellor. She was supported and inspired by the ethics and ethos and culture of Talk Matters, where everyone is heard and supported.

 

She qualified as a Person Centred Counsellor and has been with Talk Matters since 2009. She is also a Clinical Supervisor, and a Trustee on the board. Her approach is to see and hear everything with curiosity and an open mind and heart.

Brian joined Talk Matters as a Trustee in 2026 and has experience of working in the charity sector in several roles previously. Brian has an interesting background having started his career as a physics teacher then a through the sport of orienteering into a variety of senior roles in the public and private sectors at Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Sports Council. He has worked as a management consultant mainly in sport, culture and the voluntary and charity sectors where his most notable client was the Irish Rugby Football Union where he was their strategic adviser for a number of years.

 

In 2010 he started training as a Reader in the Church of Scotland and was Ordained into Local Ministry in Torbain Church Kirkcaldy in 2018. Brian is also a workplace chaplain and was a trustee and then Chair of Workplace Chaplaincy Scotland. He is excited to bring his experience and expertise to help support the important work of Talk Matters.

 

In his spare time, Brian does his bit for the tenor section of the Friends of St. Columba’s Community Choir, and enjoys cycling and golf.
